Happy Friday Y’all! I’m feeling FANCY!
Australian music sensation, Iggy Azalea rocked Rockefeller Center this morning for the Today Show’s Toyota summer concert series! Fans arrived well before daybreak for the concert and I even met one girl who camped out for 2 days!! Talk about commitment!
Every time I attend the Today Show concerts, I am fortunate to meet so many amazing people and today was no exception! I met Brad Thomas and his super friendly daughter, Lauren who is a Carolina Tarheel interning this summer in NYC. And, get this–Brad’s wife is from my lil’ hometown in North Carolina! It truly is a small world! Brad is currently collaborating with Donald Trump writing his first book. Brad also writes for The Street and Forbes.com. Amethyst Amelia Kelly (“Iggy”) came from very humble beginnings in Australia and left home to move to the US at just sixteen years old! Her single ‘Fancy’ recently hit No. 1 on the Billboard Top 100 hits! Even President Obama loves Iggy A spoof video was posted online Tuesday mixing Iggy’s ‘Fancy’ lyrics and President Obama speeches.
Iggy brought her swagger out for the crowd performing her summer hit ‘Fancy’. She kept it real signing ‘Work’ which further details her struggles moving away from home “two feet in the red dirt, 3 jobs took years to save, no money, no family, 16 in the middle of Miami”. Music aside, this girl is one resilient gal and her rag to riches story is the epitome of the American dream.
