Rothenburg has been called “Germany’s Fairy Tale Dream Town”. It was the village inspiration for ‘Pinocchio’, ‘Harry Potter and the Deathy Hallows’ were filmed in Rothenburg, and also inspired the town for the Japanese series ‘A Little Snow Fairy Sugar’. Historically, Rothenburg represented the perfect and most ideal German town during World War II.
Rothenburg has been beautifully persevered and behind the 12th century walls, you’ll find cobblestone streets lined with colorful medieval architecture.
We were lucky enough to tour Rothenburg during in the early morning, when the streets were relatively empty. We visited the gardens, enjoyed cappuccinos and “schneeball” (snowball pastry) and window-shopped the charming German shops.
