Hello Sunshine! Happy Monday to you!!
I’m taking a quick break from our European trip to share our photos from the Darius Rucker concert! Hello Summertime and outdoor concerts!! Now that we’re living below the Mason-Dixon Line, it seemed fitting our first concert in Texas was the Southern Style Tour! I’ve actually been a fan of Darius Rucker way before his country music days. Old school Hootie and the Blowfish! Just a little southern rock band started freshman year at the University of South Carolina 🙂
The Southern Style Tour featured the ‘Brothers Osbourne’, ‘A Thousand Horses’, ‘Brett Eldredge’ and ‘Darius Rucker’. Darius has a relaxed confidence and a jovial stage presence! He is always smiling! He sang his classic hits- “It won’t be like this for long”, “Don’t think I don’t think about it”, and “Wagon Wheel”. Plus he sang several Hootie favorites including “Hold My Hand”, “Only Wanna Be With You”, “Time” and “Let Her Cry”.
Darius Rucker was born and raised in Charleston, SC and he gave a heartfelt rendition of ‘Amazing Grace’ to honor all the families involved in the recent Charleston church tragedy. Brought tears to my eyes… It was a beautiful and uplifting expression of peace.
Interesting, fun fact: Darius told us when he tried to break into the country music scene, none of the radio stations wanted to play his music. Apparently his sound wasn’t “country” enough. His response? “They are playing it in Texas!” Texas radio stations were the first to give Darius Rucker legitimate air time. We are SO thankful Darius was given a chance to explore his country roots through music.
