Hello Hello! Hope you all had an amazing Easter weekend! We took advantage of the glorious NYC weather and spent lots of time outside soaking up the sun!
Easter day we grabbed brunch, went to church, and spent the afternoon at the Easter Parade & Bonnet Festival!
Dating back to the 1800’s, the NYC Easter Parade and Bonnet Festival was celebrated by church-goers showing off their Easter Sunday best. Churches had begun integrating flowers into the Easter service and following church, people would walk down Fifth Avenue to visit all the neighboring church flower displays. Eventually, they began incorporating flowers into their Easter Sunday garments, especially their hats. Today the event is not structured or organized in a traditional sense; just walk down 5th Avenue between 49th Street to 57th Street to see all the Easter parade participants!
In true New York fashion, you’ll see everything from high-flautin’ finery to outlandishly bizarre getups! Pretty interesting crowd…looked like New York’s version of the Kentucky Derby!
